¿Te esperabas una temporada tan exitosa, tanto a nivel individual como colectivo, después de tu etapa en Unicaja?
Desde el principio de la temporada, creíamos en nosotros y sabíamos que a base de trabajo, los resultados iban a llegar. Desde enero, jugamos un gran baloncesto y conseguimos ganar la Liga griega y la Euroliga, después de 15 años. Mi rendimiento se debe al rendimiento del equipo y estoy muy feliz por haber contribuido con un gran papel al éxito de Olympiacos durante esta temporada.
¿A qué crees que se debió mayormente tu decepcionante paso por Málaga?
Pienso que después de mi lesión nada era lo mismo y ni el equipo ni yo mismo, tuvimos la paciencia necesaria. De ahí que las dos partes, decidiéramos que se había llegado a un punto en el que era mejor que me marchara.
¿Le guardas algún tipo de rencor a Aíto García Reneses o a Chus Mateo?
Todo el mundo sabe lo que es Aíto en Europa, un entrenador muy respetable, y sobre Chus Mateo, sólo puedo decir cosas buenas. No tengo nada contra ellos, al contrario, me sentí muy feliz cuando me dijo mi agente que la primera felicitación que recibí por sms fue de Chus.
Si nos centramos en esta última temporada, sin duda el momento más destacado es la canasta que anotas en el último segundo de la final de la Euroliga, que os concede el título, ¿nos podrías describir brevemente lo que sentiste en ese momento?
Realmente, no tienes tiempo para pensar. O estás preparado para ello o no lo estás. Después de la victoria, el sentimiento es realmente difícil de describir. Es una mezcla de alegría, felicidad, satisfacción por todo el trabajo realizado. Es realmente increíble.
Después del título de la máxima competición continental, también os habéis proclamado campeones de liga, ¿la temporada de Olympiacos ha sido un claro ejemplo de que más vale un equipo de “hombres” que de “nombres”?
La química que existía en nuestro equipo ha sido desde luego la clave para el éxito. Nosotros jugábamos con mucho compañerismo, escuchando a nuestros entrenadores y creyendo en nosotros mismos. También teníamos mucho talento en el equipo pero nos faltaba experiencia. Al final, mejoramos partido tras partido y el resultado ha sido asombroso para todos nosotros.
¿Qué supone para ti la figura de Dusan Ivkovic?
Realmente, no tengo palabras suficientes para describir a Ivkovic. Él, aparte de entrenador, es un profesor, que creyó en mí y le estoy muy agradecido. Es para mí un honor decir que él ha sido mi entrenador. También me gustaría destacar a su staff técnico, en especial a sus asistentes, Vaggelis Aggelou y Andreas Gatzoulis, ya que realizaron también un gran trabajo.
Lo más inmediato para ti ahora es la concentración con la selección de Grecia para disputar el preolímpico de Caracas, ¿sería una decepción para un combinado tan potente como el vuestro quedarse fuera de los Juegos Olímpicos?
Me siento muy feliz de poder volver a la selección nacional de Grecia. Pienso que tenemos mucho talento y que tenemos que trabajar duro para ir a las Olimpiadas. El camino será muy difícil, ya que no hemos tenido tiempo para descansar, pero representamos a Grecia y es un honor para cualquier deportista poder jugar para tu país, sobre todo en unos Juegos Olímpicos. Espero que nosotros lo hagamos.
Para terminar, ¿es posible que en un futuro volvamos a ver a Giorgios Printezis en algún equipo español?
En la vida, todo es posible. Me gustó mucho España cuando estuve allí y mi agente, Giorgos Dimitropoulos, tiene en cuenta esto. Pero ahora mismo, Olympiacos es mi prioridad.

Were you waiting for such a successful season so much to individual as collective level after your stage in Unicaja?
We believed in ourselves from the beginning of the season and we knew that at some point all the hard work we were doing would appear on court. From January we were playing great basketball and we managed to win the Euroleague and the Greek league after 15 years. My performances came out from the team work and I am very happy I could play a big role in Olympiacos’ success this season.
To what do you believe that your disappointing step along Malaga owed mainly?
I believe after my injury nothing was the same, neither team, nor myself did we have the patience. So I believe that it was for everybody’s best interest to leave at that point.
Do you guard some type of rancor to Aíto García Reneses or to Chus Mateo?
Everybody knows coach Reneses in Europe, he s a very respectful coach and I have only good things to say about coach Mateo. No, i have nothing against them, to the contrary i was very happy when my agent told me that the first congratulating SMS that he received was from Chus.
If we centre on the latter season undoubtedly the most out-standing moment is the basket that you annotate in the last second of the final of the Euroleague which grants the title to you, might you us describe brief what you felt in this moment?
You don’t really have time to think. Either you are prepared for it or you are not. After the victory, the feeling is really difficult to describe. Joy, happiness, satisfaction for all the hard work, all mixed up. It is really incredible.
After the title of the maximum continental competition also you have proclaimed yourselves champions of league has Olympiacos’s season been a clear example of which more an equipment of men costs that of names?
The chemistry of the team was of course the key for the success. We were all playing for each other, listening to our coaches and believing in ourselves. We had great talent in the team, but not so much experience. Game by game we improved and at the end the result was amazing for all of us.
What does suppose for you Dusan Ivkovic’s figure?
I cannot really talk enough for coach Ivkovic. He is a coach, a teacher, he believed in me and I am grateful to him. It is an honour for me to be able to say that he was my coach. I want also to give big credits as well to his staff, especially assistant Vaggelis Aggelou and fitness trainer Andreas Gatzoulis did great job as well.
The most immediate thing for you now is the concentration with the selection of Greece to dispute the Olympic qualifying tournament of Caracas would it be a disappointment for a cocktail as powerful as your to remain out of the Olympic Games?
I am very happy to be back in the Greek national team. I think we are very talented and we want to work hard and go the Olympics. The season was very long, everybody is tired and there was no time for relaxing, but we are representing Greece and it is an honour for every athlete to play for his country, especially in the Olympic Games. To end is it possible that in a future we return to see Giorgios Printezis in some Spanish equipment?
In life everything is possible. I liked Spain a lot while I was there. My agent Giorgos Dimitropoulos is taking care of all this for me. But right now Olympiacos is my priority.
